Operating under a tight project schedule, UKDS recently performed underwater visual inspections on numerous flooded culverts and scour surveys on several bridges within Scotland on behalf of a local government council and global engineering company satisfying the construction warranty requirements, which were soon to expire.
The inspections included exterior faces of the superstructure and substructure, interior of the box girders using confined-space entry procedures, and underwater inspection of the submerged piers and fender systems.
Following the inspections, the team was required to complete data rich reports with severity and extent of structural defects including all imagery. Even with a tight schedule, our team was able to overcome several complex logistical problems including blocked trash screens, methodology of deployment of CCTV probes within narrow pipes where man entry was deemed unsafe and satisfy demanding scheduling requirements, all on budget and under time.
UKDS offers comprehensive engineering and inspection services for submerged structures, including bridges, piers, wharves, water control structures, sub-aqueous pipelines / utilities, and waterfront structures.
